BO3 should resign

To The Editor:

I am publicly requesting the resignations of Selectman Tony Boschetto, Ed Collins and Chairman Doug Leard, as their behavior at the past two BOS meetings have proved untrustworthy, inept and considerably unprofessional.

I don’t think I need to recap the past few weeks, in particular, the August 26th BOS meeting, but many in town may not have been to or seen on WayCam the most recent BOS meeting on September 9th.  While at the previous meeting we saw a complete disregard of transparency and poor judgment by this BO3, this most recent meeting revealed an additional lack of consideration and utter incompetence by the same group.  Selectman Boschetto kept his head down and looked as if he wished this storm would pass quickly (it will not), Selectman Collins barely participated, and Chairman Leard’s only concern seemed to be limiting the time taxpayers could speak (2 minutes).  Maybe this two minute limit was enforced so that they could get to their last agenda item more quickly: the use of taxpayer money to fund their legal defense with regards to the Attorney Generals pending Open Meeting inquiry.  It was quietly approved by a 3-2 vote around midnight.

What’s ironic to me is these three campaigned on the platform of transparency, and were elected on that promise.  Their supporters flood the Attorney General with Open Meeting Law complaints, yet are the same people applauding their conduct (new direction!), which makes it quite clear that their longstanding cries for transparency and their multiple OML complaints are simply bullying tactics to go after political opponents, and are not based on any principle whatsoever.

So, what can we do as Wayland residents?  Demand the resignations of the arrogant BO3, voice your opinion by way of attending meetings, or send a letter to the Editor of the Town Crier.  Let’s all start paying attention to where our town is headed – not in the right direction, in my opinion – and do our best to help steer Wayland forward, not backwards.
