Unlicensed Driver Causes Minor Injuries in Morning Crash at Five Paths

A collision at the intersection of routes 126 and 27, south of Sandy Burr in Wayland, sent two people to an area hospital Friday morning.

Wayland Police say an unlicensed Framingham man ran a red light this morning, colliding with another car and causing minor injuries to himself and the female driver of the other vehicle. At 6:32 a.m. Friday, police and fire personnel responded to calls reporting a head-on collision at the intersection of Routes 126 and 27 (Old Connecticut Path and Cochituate Road, respectively), south of Sandy Burr Country Club. Police Lt. Pat Swanick said the police report indicates that a Toyota Camry, driven by Jose Docarmo of Framingham, was traveling north on Old Connecticut Path when it failed to stop at a red light and collided with a Hyundai Sonata, operated by a female driver, traveling south on Cochituate Road. Unlicensed Driver, is that a politically correct term for Illegal Alien? And since when is a facial laceration, face and rib pain considered a "minor injury" Ask any women how she feels about her face being cut up; you may want a re-classification. Nothing to see here, move along...   more ›

The Wayland Police Department kicked off 2013 with three New Year's Day arrests, including two on assault charges. Perhaps not unexpectedly, the first arrest of 2013 came in the form of an OUI for 22-year-old Garrett Moore of Henry's Mill Lane in Sudbury. According to a press release, officers spotted a car soon after midnight speeding south on Route 27 and began following the vehicle. They then observed the driver fail to stay within marked lanes on Route 20 and conducted a traffic stop. Following an investigation, officers arrested Moore and charged him with operating under the influence of liquor, a marked lanes violation, speeding and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana. Later that morning, at 11:36 according to a press …

Do you ever do a follow-up with the police incidents in terms of reporting the outcome of a case/trial? In other words, if a person was arrested and later found innocent of the crime that you reported, do you report the outcome of the trial whether or not the person was found guilty or innocent? Just curious...Thanks.   more ›

Thanks for the info. It's always sad to hear that domestic assaults are happening in the area you live in. I know this is idealist, but it would be so much better if people could just trust each other and not let each other go hungry. I wish I knew what caused people to do such terrible acts of violence because then maybe we could start preventing them.   more ›

Police Arrest Woman After Altercation in Especially for Pets Parking Lot

The following information was provided by the Wayland Police Department. Where charges or arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The Wayland Police Department responded to a call Monday night from a passerby who reported an argument in progress in the Especially for Pets parking lot at 44 Main Street. According to Sgt. Ed Walsh, officers arrived at about 8:20 p.m. to find Franklin resident Yasmin Chalisa, 38, visibly upset and arguing with her husband. Walsh said that Chalisa apparently tracked her husband's phone to the nearby Starbucks, where he was having coffee with a co-worker. Chalisa confronted her husband, according to police, and an argument broke out. Walsh said that the argument turned physical when Chalisa slapped her husband in the face and also removed her shoe and hit him with it. Wayland Police Take Part in High-Tech Firearms Training

The Middlesex County Sheriff's Office brought its Mobile Training Center to Wayland for a few days.

All of Wayland's police officers, as well as officers from the neighboring Lincoln Police Department, took part in a unique form of firearms training recently when the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office parked its Mobile Training Center (MTC) behind Wayland Town Building. The MTC is a trailer equipped with special video-based simulations that allow officers to interact with hundreds of possible, live-action scenarios using live ammunition. Officers are able to complete their annually required firearm re-certification through the MTC. Wayland Police Department training sergeant Sean Gibbons said training in the MTC was "more interactive and realistic" than what has been available to officers in the past. "Instead of paper targets, it's much …

I'm glad the Wayland PD got to make use of the simulated fireams training, its a great law enforcement tool. My question is why is the Middlesex Sheriff's office in control of a piece of multimillion dollar training equipment. The Sheriff's office should be concerned with their mission, which is the detention facilities in Middlesex County. The training of police offcier should be done by the …   more ›
