A collision at the intersection of routes 126 and 27, south of Sandy Burr in Wayland, sent two people to an area hospital Friday morning.
Wayland Police say an unlicensed Framingham man ran a red light this morning, colliding with another car and causing minor injuries to himself and the female driver of the other vehicle. At 6:32 a.m. Friday, police and fire personnel responded to calls reporting a head-on collision at the intersection of Routes 126 and 27 (Old Connecticut Path and Cochituate Road, respectively), south of Sandy Burr Country Club. Police Lt. Pat Swanick said the police report indicates that a Toyota Camry, driven by Jose Docarmo of Framingham, was traveling north on Old Connecticut Path when it failed to stop at a red light and collided with a Hyundai Sonata, operated by a female driver, traveling south on Cochituate Road. A long-time family connection to the Wayland Fire Department led to the gift of the flag.
The sleeping quarters of Wayland's fire headquarters have a bit of new decor these days following the presentation of an encased American flag and a certificate of authenticity from the United States Marine Corp. According to the certificate: This is to certify this flag was flown in combat over Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom aboard F/A 18C 'Hornet' Aircraft Number 164891 (Helldiver 43) on August 4th, 2012, flown proudly by Sgt. E. O Rokes. The flag was presented to Wayland Firefighters Local 1978, IAFF, by Sgt. Edward O. Rokes, who has grown up around the Wayland Fire Department, according to Deputy Chief David Houghton. A construction worker at Wayland Town Center took a fall from a roof Wednesday afternoon that resulted in a trip to the hospital. Wayland Fire Capt. Andy Holland said the fire department responded to Wayland Town Center at about 3 p.m. Wednesday after the worker fell from one roof level down to a flat roof about 6 feet below. Holland said the man was conscious, but complaining of back and chest pain. He was transported to the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. According to Holland, the injured man had been working with a concrete boom, a machine that pumps liquid concrete. Holland said that it appeared the boom struck the man, knocking him from the roof on which he was working. Holland said he does recall any other medical calls to the Wayland …

The Middlesex District Attorney's Office said that a judge Tuesday released on recognizance the elderly woman charged with throwing hot oil on a Wayland firefighter.
A Framingham District Court judge on Tuesday released Rita Gordon on personal recognizance following her arraignment on charges she threw hot oil in the face of a Wayland firefighter. According to a spokeswoman with the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, prosecutors asked for Gordon to be held on $1,500 cash bail. A judge, however, ruled that she be released on the condition that she comply with any mental health assessments deemed necessary by the probation department. Gordon, who was identified as Rita Warren in a Wayland police press release, has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault on a public employee following an incident at a King Street apartment on Tuesday.
