Koutoujian Announces Top Leadership Changes at the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office

Appointments made as 33-year veteran and Special Sheriff Patrick Murphy retires.

The following is a release from Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian's office: Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian this week announced his appointment of Scott Brazis to the position of Special Sheriff. Brazis, who is currently the Superintendent of the Middlesex Jail in Cambridge, replaces Patrick Murphy who will retire this Friday after 33 years at the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office. “This day is bittersweet for me and the entire Middlesex Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Koutoujian. “Patrick Murphy served with honor, fairness and integrity during his tenure at this institution. Wayland Police Take Part in High-Tech Firearms Training

The Middlesex County Sheriff's Office brought its Mobile Training Center to Wayland for a few days.

All of Wayland's police officers, as well as officers from the neighboring Lincoln Police Department, took part in a unique form of firearms training recently when the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office parked its Mobile Training Center (MTC) behind Wayland Town Building. The MTC is a trailer equipped with special video-based simulations that allow officers to interact with hundreds of possible, live-action scenarios using live ammunition. Officers are able to complete their annually required firearm re-certification through the MTC. I'm glad the Wayland PD got to make use of the simulated fireams training, its a great law enforcement tool. My question is why is the Middlesex Sheriff's office in control of a piece of multimillion dollar training equipment. Reports: Middlesex County Deputy Sheriff Died from Self-Inflicted Gunshot Prior to Crash

The incident occurred at about 4 a.m. Wednesday on Treble Cove Road in Billerica.

The Middlesex County corrections officer who was found dead after an early-morning, single-car crash in Billerica Wednesday died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head that could have been accidental, according to the Lowell Sun.  The Middlesex County Sheriff’s office has identified the corrections officer as Edward “Teddy” Dillon III, 27, of Lowell, but has not commented on his cause of death. The Middlesex County District Attorney’s office has only said that his death was not suspicious and no charges are being filed, according to the Sun report. Dillon’s police cruiser, which sustained heavy front-end damage, was found at 4 a.m. on Treble Cove Road in Billerica. He was on duty at the time of the incident. Middlesex Sheriff Peter …
