The National Weather Service issues a winter storm watch.
The National Weather Service in Taunton issued a winter storm watch Friday morning for a weekend snowstorm. The storm is expected to hit Massachusetts late Saturday night and end early Sunday morning. The "Winter Storm Watch" was issued in part as it is the first potential storm of the season, occuring earlier than most winter storms of this type. A mix of wet and snowy weather will impact the area and there is a chance of 2-5 inches of snow north and west of Boston, including Wayland, according to the National Weather Service. With leaves still on many trees this predicted heavy wet snow could cause branches to break with possible power outages, said the alert.
