School Committee, Board of Selectmen Races Will Be Contested

The deadline to submit papers to run for office in April was Feb. 12. Candidates can withdraw their names from contention until Feb. 26.

Wayland's 2013 Town Election has taken shape, with positions on the School Committee and the Board of Selectmen both contested. Donna E. Bouchard and Jeanne Downs will vie for the single seat on the School Committee being vacated by Shawn Kinney. Kinney took out papers on Feb. 1 to run for re-election, but did not return his papers by the Feb. 12, 4 p.m., deadline and will, therefore, not be on the ballot. In the Board of Selectmen race, Anthony Vincent Boschetto and David Gordon Cliff returned papers to run for the single seat being vacated by current Chairman John Bladon, who announced in January that he would not seek re-election. Susan W. Pope, a former selectwoman, took out papers on Feb. 1 to run for the open seat on the board, but …

Nominations Pending for All Town Election Positions But One

As of Friday afternoon, candidates had requested papers for all but one of the positions to be elected in the Town Election April 2.

With just over a week left until nomination papers are due to the Office of the Town Clerk, papers for every open position except one have been requested by potential candidates. Only a three-year term on the town's Recreation Commission remains without a potential candidate. Current Rec Commission member Robert Virzi's term is expiring and he has not yet requested papers to seek re-election. Rec Commission member Asa Foster's term is also expiring, but his nomination papers had been returned and certified as of Feb. 1. A single three-year term on the School Committee is shaping up to be contested, with potential challengers Donna Bouchard and Sumita Dutta having requested nomination papers to vie for the seat currently held by Shawn …
