Unseasonably warm temperatures brought swimmers and sunbathers to Wayland Town Beach.
The hot sun is making it difficult to remember that it's only mid-April in Wayland and chilly days could still be ahead. Whatever temperatures the next several days will bring, Tuesday brought highs in the upper 70s and a clear sunny day that drew some early-season sunbathers and a few brave splashers to the Wayland Town Beach. Why head south for Spring Break when your backyard boasts plenty of sun and warmth? Wayland Patch stopped by the beach and captured a few images of people (and pups) enjoying a day in the sun.

Beach has been closed since Monday in the wake of Lauren Astley's murder.
The Wayland Town Beach, which has been closed since Monday, will reopen Thursday morning, recreation officials said this morning. The beach closed on Monday while a police investigation was underway in connection with the disappearance of Lauren Astley, 18, of Wayland. Astley was reported missing Sunday night, and her Jeep was found later that night parked at the beach. Astley’s body was found Monday morning in a marshy area off Water Row. The Wayland High School graduate’s ex-boyfriend, Nathaniel Fujita, 18, of Wayland, has been charged with her murder. Weed removal closes the Wayland Town Beach.
The Wayland Town Beach is closed today as the state conducts weed removal. Linda Hamilton with the Wayland Recreation Department said she believes pulling and some chemicals are being used to help control milfoil, an invasive aquatic weed plaguing Lake Cochituate. Hamilton said the Town Beach is expected to reopen tomorrow, June 30.
