Wayland Foreclosure Activity Down from March 2012 and YTD

Foreclosure activity decreased significantly across the state, signalling the end of the foreclosure crisis, according to Banker & Tradesman.

Wayland's home sales through March 2013 have been down from the same period in 2012, but the good news is that foreclosure numbers through the same month in 2013 have dropped, as well. New numbers released by the Warren Group show an 82 percent decrease across the state in petitions to foreclose as compared to the numbers for March 2012. Wayland mirrors that decrease with a reduction of 50 percent from March 2012 to March 2013. Admittedly, Wayland's real numbers for foreclosures are low (just two in March 2012 and one in March 2013), but the percentage decreases remain dramatic. Warren Group CEO Timothy M. Wayland Foreclosure Petitions Rise Dramatically in 2012, Completed Foreclosures Drop

Although the number of completed foreclosures dropped, Wayland saw more people start the foreclosure process in 2012 compared to 2011.

Along with a 44 percent increase in home sales in 2012, the total number of completed foreclosures in Wayland decreased last year, according to statistics gathered by the Warren Group, the Boston-based real estate and banking information publishers for New England. At the end of 2012, Wayland had just two foreclosure deeds, an 77.8 percent drop from the nine completed in 2011. Foreclosure deeds represent a completed foreclosure, according to the Warren Group press release. Wayland also saw fewer foreclosure auctions in 2012, dropping 84 percent from 25 total auctions in 2011 to four auctions in 2012.
