Selectmen Preview: Conversion to LED Streetlights and A WayCam Update

The Wayland Board of Selectmen will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at Wayland Town Building.

Town Administrator Fred Turkington submitted the preview below. The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday, March 4, 2013 in Wayland Town Building. Town Administrator Fred Turkington provided the preview below. The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday, February 4, 2013 in Wayland Town Building. After Chairman John Bladon reviews the meeting agenda for the viewing public and makes any announcements, Selectmen will recognize Wastewater Management District Commission director William Prendergast for many years of service. Before receiving public comment, the Board will execute documents related to last week's bond sale. The Town received twelve bids for $4M bond issue for capital projects, including a refinancing of 10 year old debt. The low bid was 1.105 percent for the bonds. Letter: Board of Selectmen Chairman Will Not Seek Re-Election

John Bladon has decided to step away from the Board of Selectmen.

After much thought, I have decided not to seek re-election to the Board of Selectmen. It has been a great privilege to have served first on the Finance Committee and then the Board of Selectmen over the last five years. During that period I have had the pleasure of being a part of many exciting developments in our town.  We have collectively seen As a community we have a lot to be proud of. Although we have achieved much, we still have more to do. I sincerely hope we can continue our strong momentum. I hope to stay involved with Wayland town government during the coming years. Public service is very rewarding and a duty we should all consider during some period of our lives. We are blessed with many talented elected, appointed and salaried…

AG Issues Ruling On OML Complaints Against Selectmen, Public Works

The state attorney general found one complaint valid and two invalid.

Recent decisions published by the Attorney General's Office reveal that two complaints filed against Wayland's Board of Selectmen in 2012 did not reveal OML violations. In an additional decision filed recently, the office found that a member of Wayland's Board of Public Works committed a violation outlined in a third 2012 complaint. Draft Press Release Via Email All three complaints were submitted by resident George Harris in 2012. According to a letter published on the AG's website, Wayland's Board of Selectmen did not violate the OML by circulating via email the draft of a proposed press release, which was the substance of a complaint submitted by Harris on Jan. 30, 2012. The Wayland Board of Selectmen meets tonight at 7 p.m.

The preview below was submitted by Town Administrator Fred Turkington. The Board of Selectmen will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 in Wayland Town Building. After Chairman John Bladon reviews the meeting agenda for the viewing public and makes any announcements, Selectmen will receive public comment. At 7:15 p.m., the Board will conduct a public hearing on a request from NSTAR to locate a utility pole and guy wire on Stonebridge Road. From the finance department to budget items, Wayland's Board of Selectmen covered a wide array of topics Monday night.

1. New Finance Director. Board members met and spoke briefly with the town's new finance director, Brian Keveny, before ratifying his hiring by Town Administrator Fred Turkington. Keveny replaces Michael DiPietro, who resigned in October 2012. “Transparency is a thing that I’ve always supported," Keveny told selectmen when asked about his views on financial management.
