PHOTOS: New Addition to Memorial Announced at Veterans Day Ceremony

A crowd gathered at the Wayland Veterans Memorial Nov. 12 for the town's annual Veterans Day ceremony.

Residents and veterans gather Monday morning at the Wayland Veterans Memorial at Wayland Town Building for a solemn ceremony recognizing the sacrifice of Wayland's own. The memorial at the town building features the names of Wayland residents who died while serving their country. Later this year, a new name will join the list. John Dyer, a member of the town's Public Ceremonies Committee, announced at the ceremony that the name Garrett R. Domolky will soon be etched into the pillar of names. Domolky, Dyer said, took his own life while in service. "Today, military suicide is happening at a rate of one per day," Dyer said, adding that suicide is the No. 1 cause of death among today's service members. "It is not our role as society to pass …

A number of businesses are saluting veterans, military service men and women, and their families this Veterans Day by offering local discounts, specials and promotions. Veterans Day Ceremony Scheduled in Wayland

The two-part ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11.

Veterans Day is Friday, Nov. 11, and Wayland will honor Metrowest veterans during a two-part ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. that day. The first part of the ceremony will take place in the gymnasium at Trinitarian Congregational Church at 10 a.m. The Army Color Guard from Soldier Systems Center (Natick Labs) will open and close the indoor ceremony, which will feature the Ocean State Chorus of Lincoln, R.I., singing patriotic songs as well as speakers Gerald Halterman and Michael Doe. Halterman, U.S. Navy WWII, will relate his eyewitness account of the infamous Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Dec. 7, 1941. Chief Warrant Officer 4, Doe, U.S. Army of the Soldier Systems Center will speak on “Service to Country.” After the program, …
