With the recent bouts of vandalism that have been occurring in Wayland, Police Chief Robert Irving offered a few tips home and business owners can take to deter vandals from targeting their property. 1. “The biggest thing people can do is contact the police if they hear something suspicious.” It doesn’t matter how slight the sound or if you think it’s just a “bump in the night.” There are police cars patrolling 24 hours a day; “It’s not a problem for us to go check something out.” 2. If you have sensor lights that aim onto your yard, driveway or home, use them. 3. Keep vehicles locked at night.
