Earth Day Invite: Visit a Wayland Solar Home and Biointensive Garden

Transition Wayland is organizing a series of open houses April 27-28, that will celebrate Earth Day and allow residents to get to know the green efforts of their neighbors.

Editor's Note: This is the first in a series of articles contributed by Transition Wayland and the Wayland Green Team inviting residents to an Earth Day weekend Open House Event at a home, business or other establishment in Wayland. Each week, you'll learn about another event at a different location. This year Wayland will celebrate Earth Day during the weekend of April 27 and 28 with Open Houses all over town. Every week until then Patch will publish an article featuring one of these houses. Our first invitation comes from Margie and Tony Lee at 14 Brooks Road. Residents, Businesses Invited to Take Solar Panel Survey

The survey is part of the application for the Solarize Massachusetts program.

Wayland residents and businesses are invited to take part in a survey that is part of the application for Solarize Massachusetts, a program allowing residents, businesses and faith organizations to purchase electricity-producing solar panels, their installation and solar power at reduced prices. The opportunity to participate in Solarize Massachusetts is being offered to Wayland because of the town's Green Community status, which it earned in 2010. "The Solarize program would help interested parties by the Town conveniently selecting the best installer and contract for the whole of Wayland," according to a press release. So far (March 15, 1:20 pm) the Survey has received an incredible 272 responses, 86% of them expressing great interest. Seeing as there are (give or take) 4,625 households in Wayland, we'd like to gather at least 462 responses, and we have until Wednesday to do it.   more ›
