...with Police Chief Robert Irving
Chief Irving took a few minutes to e-mail his responses to our five questions.
1. Why did you become a police officer? I was interested in law enforcement during my high school years and in 1973 joined the auxiliary police force in my hometown. In 1975, being too young to join the department full time, I enlisted in the U.S. Army as a military police officer and served for three years in Germany. Upon my return I became a regular member of the police department. I have pursued this career because I enjoy working for the public and helping people solve problems that they may not be able to handle on their own. It is also rewarding to work with professionals concerned for public safety in the community. 2. What is the most bizarre/unusual call to which you have ever responded?
