Date Set for Pelham Island Bridge Closure
The bridge will close next month.
State Department of Transportation officials have confirmed that the Pelham Island Road bridge will close to traffic on Feb. 27 to begin reconstruction. Detour signs will be posted Feb. 21. Once the bridge closes, the contractor will begin work on a temporary bridge to carry utilities across the river for the duration of the project. This bridge will not be for traffic of any kind. The contractor estimates completeing the utility bridge on or about March 16, and, at that point, will reopen the Pelham Island Road bridge to traffic temporarily.
