Selectmen Approve Liquor License for Wayland Town Center Restaurant

The Local is coming soon to Wayland Town Center.

The Local moved one step closer to bringing its locally sourced, classic American fare to Wayland Town Center last week with a vote by the Board of Selectmen. Frank Santo, owner of the West Newton gastropub, announced in January that he had signed a lease to expand his restaurant business to Wayland Town Center. The Local will share a building at the development with Middlesex Savings Bank. On Wednesday, Wayland selectmen approved an on premises, all-alcohol license for the restaurant, a necessary step on the way to The Local Wayland's target of opening on or near June 1. Attorney Steve Bookbinder told selectmen that the restaurant will feature 6,000 square feet indoors in addition to an 800-square-foot patio area. In all, there will be …

Something 'Local' Coming Soon to Wayland Town Center

The rumors are true. A popular West Newton eatery is expanding to Wayland Town Center.

It's been rumored for months, and the time has come for restaurant owner Frank Santo to make it official: The Local is coming to Wayland Town Center. Santo said that he hopes to open The Local Wayland on or around June 1. He admits it's an aggressive target, but he's been in the restaurant business for more than two decades and with The Local, he's found a formula that works. “We wanted to capitalize on the success of the West Newton location," Santo said. "It’s a segment of the restaurant industry that’s hot right now: Prices between $10 and $25, local produce, local craft beer. This is what we wanted to do to be more approachable from a family’s point of view. "We’re going to stay in that zone for as long as the customers keep coming." …
