Runners and walkers and spectators converged on Dudley Pond Sunday on a beautiful day for run.
On Sunday, Sept. 23, 2011, Wayland's Mansion Beach erupted in activity as more than 200 people came out to participate in the 16th annual Dudley Pond Fun Run/Walk. Most participants hailed from Wayland but runners and walkers from Framingham, Brookline, Natick, Brighton and more showed up to take to the course around Dudley Pond. The event benefitted the Dudley Pond Association who will use raised funds toward the preservation of the quality of Dudley Pond and to fight invasive pond weeds. The day's activities included a fitness walk, a USA Track & Field-sanctioned 5-kilometer run, a 2-mile walk and a kids' fun run. Top finishers: Full race results are available here.

The Dudley Pond Run/Walk has grown into quite the event in Wayland. Runners and walkers from throughout the Commonwealth venture to Wayland for a run around our scenic pond. The 16th annual Dudley Pond Run will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, with proceeds benefiting the Dudley Pond Association’s efforts to preserve the quality of Dudley Pond and fight invasive pond weeds. There are four events for all ages: a 5-kilometer race (USA Track & Field-sanctioned), a 2-mile competitive walk, a kids’ race, and a noncompetitive fitness walk. Sylvia Greene of Passion to Move will lead the noncompetitive fitness walk starting at 10:30 a.m., followed by the kids’ fun run at 12:30 p.m., and the 5K race and the 2-mile walk starting at 1 p.m. Events will be held rain or shine.
