5 Things You Missed at Thursday's Selectmen Meeting

From medical marijuana, to an interim finance director, to Annual Town Meeting dates and more, Wayland selectmen handled a number of key topics at their Thursday night meeting.

Selectmen Doug Leard was not present for the Nov. 1 meeting. Moderator Dennis Berry urged selectmen to set the dates for the 2013 Annual Town Meeting sooner than the Dec. 13 legal deadline. He also pointed out that Wayland historically takes four days to complete its Annual Town Meeting, but four days in a row is too much for many people. "Four nights in a row is unacceptable – it’s just too much," Berry said, and selectmen agreed. "What [the Town Meeting Procedures Subcommittee] had suggested was a schedule something like Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. It’s about the best we thought we could do." Selectmen are considering a number of options for when to hold the meeting and plan to make a decision at their Nov. 19 meeting. That will…

Why the federal government continues to ignore the empirical evidence before them while simultaneously holding a patent on marijuana themselves is a question for the American people to investigate. Patent number 6630507 states unequivocally that "cannabinoids are useful in the prevention and treatment of a wide variety of diseases including auto-immune disorders, stroke, trauma, Parkinson's, …   more ›

Danforth Developers Seek Updated Mitigation Plan with Wayland

Baystone Development has purchased the land once planned for the Danforth Housing Project and is moving forward with plans for the site.

Selectmen Monday night said they wanted to "percolate" before making a decision about accepting a reduced financial settlement related to a proposed housing project on Old Connecticut Path just over the Wayland line in Framingham. Baystone Development has completed its purchase of 150-plus acres once proposed for the Danforth Housing Project. Baystone is currently working with Framingham officials to complete preliminary permitting and studies to begin construction. Roy MacDowell Jr., representing Baystone Development, appeared before the Wayland Board of Selectmen Monday to provide board members with an update on the project now that the purchase of the land is complete. When he last talked with selectmen, the land had not yet been …

Selectmen Hear About New Plans for Old Housing Project

The Danforth Housing Project is in Framingham, but just over the Wayland line on Old Connecticut Path.

Wayland’s Board of Selectmen Monday night learned about the current status of a project last in discussion several years ago. The Danforth Housing Project in Framingham, just over the Wayland line on Old Connecticut Path, is back under negotiation, with some changes, after having been tabled for a number of years. On Monday, Roy MacDowell, a representative with Baystone Development, met with selectmen, representatives from several other Wayland boards, and individuals familiar with the history of the project through their involvement several years ago. His company is in talks with both Framingham and Wayland to develop the project and has the land, adjacent to the Pod Meadow Conservation Area, under agreement. All of the planned …
