Wayland High School’s boys’ basketball team recently won the Dual County League Championship over second-place earners Concord-Carlisle High School, but Tuesday night the Warriors fell on the road, 58-50, with the Patriots taking their win over January’s loss at Wayland. “I thought the effort was really good,” said Wayland coach Dennis Doherty. “The problem was we didn’t get off to a great start and we didn’t finish very well. And that’s a really good team that we played. Wayland High School’s girls’ basketball team dominated Friday night at Concord-Carlisle High School and came out with the 53-41 victory. Wayland was up 8-2 about midway through the first quarter. The Patriots were heaving up shots and rebounding, but few were going in. Freshman Angela DeBruzzi (seven points) did, however, make a nice basket with 22 seconds remaining. At the end of the first Wayland led, 14-6. The second quarter started off with a little more boom for C-C. Junior Jessie Castelline (10 points) made two great back-to-back three-pointers to put some life into the team.
