Wayland Habitat for Humanity Site is Marked

Months of planning have already taken place.

The Wayland Habitat for Humanity team reached a milestone of sorts recently when a sign marking the Stonebridge Road site went up.

For the past several months, volunteers have been working to organize and raise funds for two duplexes to be built on land appropriated for affordable housing at the 2010 Annual Town Meeting.

The current fundraising project allows individuals to of the duplexes. A block is $75 and two blocks can be purchased for $125. Each person who buys a block will have the opportunity to lay the block in the foundation and write a message to the future homeowners.

Construction is scheduled to begin this fall but volunteers must raise 30 percent of the budget prior to groundbreaking as per Habitat for Humanity's requirements.

Volutneers are still needed for all aspects of the project and anyone interested in helping is asked to call Mary Antes at 508 358-2571 or Dan Sharry at 508 358-3524.
