Reason for riding: Spencer is a nine-year breast cancer survivor and, according to an interview with Wayland Patch last year, she rides because it's the best way to repay the doctors that treated her at Dana-Farber.

"When I finished the treatments, I said 'I don't know how I'll ever repay you,' and my doctor said, 'You can ride the Pan-Mass Challenge.' I've ridden the PMC ever since.

"Every year I ride, every dollar donated, brings people closer to a cure, which is the ultimate goal."

Training tip: "Remember that it's a ride and not a race so ride at a pace that works for you."
