Needed: 102 Volunteers (As of Tuesday Morning)

A 375th anniversary celebration doesn't just happen. It requires a lot of folks pitching in.

When it comes time to throw a party, you know there's a lot of work and steps and details to handle before the big day arrives. Then on the big day, there are always tasks that make the party run smoothly and create a memorable experience for the guests.

For Wayland's 375th Anniversary Celebration Kickoff party, you, the people of Wayland, are the guests, but you're also the people who are going to help make this party one to remember.

As of about 11 a.m. Tuesday, there remained 102 volunteer spots available throughout the day Saturday, June 15 as Wayland hosts a circus, a carnival, a bonfire, a barn dance and more.

The volunteer needs begin as early as 9 a.m. and continue until 10:30 p.m. with clean-up after the barn dance. If you can spare as little as an hour, there's a spot for you.

Here's a sample of the spots that remain to be filled:

  • Food Server - 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
  • Game and Food Ticket Booth - 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
  • Carnival Game Helper - 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Runner - 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Merchandise Booth - 1 p.m.-3 p.m.
  • Clean-Up Team - 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
  • Chair Packer Upper - 4 p.m.-5 p.m.
  • Barn Dance Parking Assistant - 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
  • Serve Refreshments at the Barn Dance - 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.
  • Barn Dance Clean Up - 9:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m.

The list goes on. Already many, many spots have been filled (including a couple by your very own Patch editor), but the need remains.
