Cheer On Wayland's Pan-Mass Challenge Riders

When the 33rd Pan-Massachusetts Challenge takes place today and tomorrow, 54 Wayland residents are scheduled to be on their bikes and taking part.

About 5,500 cyclists will take part in the 33rd annual event, which is known as the "nation’s pioneer charity bike-a-thon that raises more money than any other athletic fundraising event in the country," according to a press release from Pan-Mass Challenge.

The goal of this year's ride is to raise $36 million to support cancer research in adult and pediatric cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund.

Riders in the Pan-Mass Challenge range from age 13-88 and have a variety of athletic training to their experience. According to a press release, more than 300 riders are cancer survivors of current patients themselves.
