How is Happy Hollow School Performing?

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has released its report card of the Happy Hollow Elementary School.

MCAS Scores

Science: in 2013, the percentage of students scoring proficient or above in MCAS dropped from 72 to 70. Statewide, that figure remained flat at 54.

Math: in 2013, the percentage of students scoring proficient or above in MCAS stayed flat at 71. Statewide, that figure jumped from 59 to 62.

English Language Arts: In 2013, the percentage of students scoring proficient or above in MCAS dropped to 75 from 80. Statewide, that figure to 61 from 62.

Progress toward narrowing achievement gap: High needs and students with disabilities did not meet their target.

Overall, Happy Hollow remains a Level 2 school. As a result, the school will continue to give additional support to high needs students and those with learning disabilities, according to a school-wide announcement. The school is also offering extra work in math and ELA programs. “Sometimes student progress consists of a process that can take longer than one state testing period allows, but know that with all of these interventions in place, our students are moving toward meeting our gap-narrowing goals,” principal James Lee wrote to the Happy Hollow community in an announcement about the report card.

-The school and is in the 81st percentile of highest performing schools meaning it performs better than 81 percent of the schools statewide.
