Audit of Wayland Schools to be Presented Tuesday

At 7 p.m. tonight, an auditor will present his findings of the audit performed on the Wayland Public Schools.

Jim Powers, of Powers & Powers, will present his forensic audit of the school district in response to previously expressed spending concerns, according to an announcement. The presentation will be held at the Wayland Town Building.

"Over the last few years, the School Committee has heard concerns raised by residents with regard to our fiscal operations. We have worked very hard to respond to these concerns. Under the leadership and guidance of our Superintendent, Paul Stein, and our Business Administrator, Geoff MacDonald, and with their experience and expertise, we have made it a priority to improve our financial operations and identified it as a District goal these past two years," the announcement reads.

Residents will have an opportunity to ask questions and make comments during a public comment period.

The School Committee hired Powers in 2012 after the State Auditor declined Wayland's request to audit the schools.
