Wayland Voters Approve Lincoln Road Conservation Deal

The approval means 23 acres of land on Lincoln Road will be preserved as open space.

Wayland special town meeting voters, in a 527-61 vote on Nov. 20, approved spending $2.4 million on a restriction that would prevent future development on a 23-acre parcel on Lincoln Road.

The approval means the town will spend $2.4 million in Community Preservation funds to purchase a conservation restriction on the land that would prevent any future development on the site and preserve it as open space.

The funding comes from the Community Preservation fund, which is funded through tax bills and matching money from the state, and will not cost the taxpayers any additional money.

The restriction's approval comes after previous discussion of possibly building residences on the property.

The owner, a Concord resident, would retain ownership of the site.
