Wayland Town Clerk is Retiring

Lois Toombs has served as the Wayland Town Clerk for the past seven years.

Wayland Town Clerk Lois Toombs is retiring next year.

Toombs has submitted her letter of retirement to the Board of Selectmen, she told Wayland Patch on Friday.

Toombs will leave her post on April 2, 2014, two years before her term is set to expire, she said.

"The time has come. I want to spend some time with my family... and do some fun things," she said. "I am going to miss it all."

Toombs said she previously served 18 years as the assistant town clerk and has been the town clerk for the past seven years.

On Monday, Selectmen plan to vote on whether to call a special election next year to fill the remaining two years of Toombs's term.
