Wayland BOS to Talk New Town Admin on Monday

The Wayland Board of Selectmen plan to deal with more town administrator-related issues on Monday.

First, selectmen plan to discuss the potential composition of a search committee to conduct a search for a new permanent town administrator, according tot the Oct. 7 meeting agenda. Also, the board plans to discuss goals and priorities for the town administrator.

Separately, selectmen plan to discuss release the minutes of their Sept. 9, Sept. 16 and Sept. 23 executive sessions in which they discussed the two Open Meeting Law complaints recently filed against them and other matters related to the recent termination of former town administrator Fred Turkington. Selectmen have denied they broke the law but the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office is reviewing the complaints.

According to Selectman Joe Nolan, the Personnel Board has recommended appointing a search committee that would have one member of the Personnel Board, one member of the Public Works Committee, one member of the Finance Committee and one member of the School Committee. Each of those members would be appoint by their respective boards.

-Also, the Personnel Board recommended appointing three citizens to the search committee which the Personnel Board would choose, according to Nolan.
