Wayland BOS To Discuss Filling Vacant Seat

The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

The Wayland Board of Selectmen on Wednesday is set to review and discuss its options for filling the seat former selectman Doug Leard recently vacated.

Citing medical issues, Leard resigned earlier in October.

Selectmen have several options, including calling a special election to to select somebody to serve out the Leard's term until 2015. If selectmen forgo such an election, citizens could force an election through a petition process.

If neither option happens, the seat would be placed on the April 2014 ballot and whoever was elected would serve until Leard's term expires in 2015.

The board's meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Wayland Town Building.
