Note how many Westwood residents have jobs and pay taxes... as evidenced by the four-to-one ratio of Republican to Democrat ballots. Even without a primary opponent, the Community Organizer is not well represented. Reverend E. Raleigh Pimperton III
Jan Galkowski March 07, 2012 at 01:36 PM
There was nothing really to vote for on the Democratic ballot, apart from the Town Committee, so the inference by the Rev Pimperton is an unjustified reach. Also, there are many counterexamples to Pimperton's logic. For example, in the last Presidential election residents of the City of Cambridge donated in excess of $10 million to the Democratic Party, while they donated a bit over $5 million to Republicans. (Public record, kn the Web.) Surely. most of this is from people who "have jobs and pay taxes".

Good points, Jan. No doubt some Democrats wish Obama had a primary opponent. Cambridge, like Madison and Berkeley, is a special case. The question is why so many jobholders and taxpayers in these cities seem insulated from reality?
