Lexington's Jill Stein Arrested Again

The Green Party presidential hopeful was reportedly pinched Oct. 31 in Winnsboro, Texas after delivering resupply goods to tree sitters protesting the Keystone XL pipeline.

Looks like Jill Stein's dressing as an outlaw this Halloween.

The Green Party presidential candidate from Lexington has been arrested for the third time since winning the party's nomination this summer, and this time her offense was delivering resupply goods to a Keystone XL blockade in Winnsboro, Texas, according to her website.

As journalists, scientists and politicians on the East Coast weighed the impact of climate change on Hurricane Sandy, the tremendous tropical storm that wreaked havoc throughout the region in the days before Halloween, Stein was in Texas adding the Tar Sands pipeline into the equation.

“I’m here to connect the dots between super storm Sandy and the record heat, drought, and fire we've seen this year – and this Tar Sands pipeline, which will make all of these problems much worse," Stein said in a statement posted to her website. "And I’m here to connect the dots between climate devastation and pipeline politicians – both Obama and Romney – who are competing, as we saw in the debates, for the role of Puppet In Chief for the fossil fuel industry. Both deserve that title. Obama’s record of “drill baby drill” has gone beyond the harm done by George Bush. Mitt Romney promises more of the same.”

Stein's previous arrests were for failed occupations.

First, she and running mate Cheri Honkala were arrested in August while attempting to "Occupie Fannie Mae" while protesting home foreclosures in Philadelphia.  And more recently, Stein and Honkala were arrested after unsuccessfully attempted to gain access to the debate hall at Hofstra University, ultimately getting arrested and calling the process a "mockery of Democracy."

Her lastest arrest comes about a week after the campaign began encouraging supporters to create Stein-inspired memes, and if the photo being circulated with news of the Tar Sands arrest is any indication, that effort hasn't stopped.
