He's Back! Coyote Scarecrow Returns to Mansion Beach

The intrepid Wile E. Coyote has returned to his post at Mansion Beach where the Wayland Surface Water Quality Committee hopes he will successfully help reduce bacteria levels in Dudley Pond.

The coyote "scarecrow" is intended to scare away ducks, geese and other animals whose waste can cause bacteria levels at the beach to rise. The plastic coyote disappeared from his post in late June.

According to an email from WSWQC member Mike Lowery, the bacteria levels in Dudley Pond rose slightly during the coyote's absence.

Lowery also notes that the coyote is town property and anyone absconding with him could be prosecuted.

In addition to leaving coyote scarecrow at his post, Lowery asks that visitors to Mansion Beach clean up after their pets (there are pet waste bags on-site) and refrain from feeding the ducks and geese.
