Five Questions with Board of Selectmen Candidates

The April 3 Wayland Town Election will have Wayland voters electing 20 positions in town government. Only five positions up for grabs are contested and that includes two spots on the Wayland Board of Selectmen.

According to the Board of Selectmen website, the board has "broad authority over matters not delegated by statute or bylaw to another town government entity." Selectmen are "responsible for operations of several departments and activities, including building, facilities management, police, fire, finance, treasurer, legal matters, disposition of real property, human resources, and collective bargaining matters, and is advised by appointed committees on wastewater treatment, senior programs, youth services, and conservation matters."

Wayland Patch asked the four candidates for Board of Selectmen, Chris Brown, Edward Collins, Douglas Leard and Susan Pope to respond to five questions. All four candidates submitted answers to our questions via email.
