What is Wayland's Biggest Unsolved Mystery?

No one ever figured out who murdered Sarah Pryor.

Most crimes are solved, and there is resolution. However, in every city and town, there are some "unsolved mysteries" that leave police, and the general public, baffled and frustrated.

Wayland Patch asked Police Chief Robert Irving what he considered to be Wayland's biggest unsolved mystery.

"The biggest unsolved mystery in Wayland is the abduction and murder of Sarah Pryor that occurred on Oct. 9, 1985," said Irving. "A piece of her skull was found years later, and positively identified on Nov. 11, 1998. The case was never solved.  This case generated extensive local and national coverage."

"I remember when Sarah disappeared from the porch of her Wayland, MA, home," posted "rpipergirl" on websleuths.com. "I was 11 years old. It was scary to have a child go missing so near that it was on our local news. The case still haunts me."
