The Wayland Police issued the following scam warning on their Facebook page.
"The Wayland Police Department has taken another report of a suspected scam. The perpetrators represent themselves as NStar or another utility and contact local businesses, telling them they need to immediately pay an overdue utility bill using “PayPal Cards” or “Green Dot Pre-paid cards”.
NStar will never call a business or resident requesting a payment be made in this manner. If you receive a call like this, gather as much information as possible from the caller and notify the Wayland Police Department at 508-358-4721."
