Wayland Fire Responds to 2nd Fall from Tree in 48 Hours

A professional tree trimmer took a fall Friday afternoon.

For the second time in about 48 hours, the Wayland Fire Department responded to calls of a man injured falling out of a tree.

On Friday at 1:53 p.m., Wayland received calls that a professional tree trimmer had tumbled from a tree while working at a home on Adelaide Avenue.

Lt. Ken McGuire said emergency responders found the man conscious and suffering from what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. He complained primarily of a shoulder injury, lower back pain and various cuts and abrasions.

McGuire said witnesses told responders the worker had been secured in a safety harness at the time of the fall. Still, the man, estimated to be about 30 years old, fell from the tree all the way to the ground 35 feet below. He never lost consciousness, according to witnesses.

McGuire said the man was stable at the time he was transported via ambulance to an area hospital.

On Wednesday, a Wayland man was air-lifted to a Boston hospital after falling from a tree and his wife sustained injuries trying to break his fall. Neither person's injuries were thought to be life-threatening.
