Wayland Community Pool Closed Due to HAZMAT Situation

Chemical mixture caused the emergency.

The Wayland Community pool was closed today after an employee mistakenly mixed two chemicals together, creating a hazardous situation, the Boston Globe is reporting.

The employee who mixed the chemicals refused treatment, but Wayland Fire Captain Robert Dorey told the Globe the employee was later driven by a family member to a local hospital, where he was treated and released

No injuries were reported.

The pool was closed for the day as the state hazardous materials team cleaned the pool, Dorey said. The pool should reopen tomorrow.
