Violent Crime Up in Wayland in 2012

The FBI's Uniform Crime Report is released each fall.

Violent and property crime was up in 2012 in Wayland, according to Federal Bureau of investigation statistics.

The FBI's annual report includes information submitted by local law enforcement agencies. The information is compiled and released to the public in the fall after the reporting year.

Overall, violent crime jumped to 8 in 2012 from 2 in 2011. In 2010, that figure was 4 in 2010. 

·      Murders/non-negligent manslaughters: Wayland had no murders in 2012, a drop from the lone murder in 2011. In 2010, Wayland had no murders/non-negligent manslaughters.

 ·      Forcible rapes: This figure remained at zero in 2012. It was zero in 2010.

·      Robbery: Wayland had one robbery in 2012, up from none in 2011. In 2010, Wayland had one robbery.

·      Aggravated assault: This figure increased to seven in 2012 from one in 2011. In 2010, Wayland had three aggravated assaults.

Property Crime

Overall, property crime jumped to 50 in 2012 from 28 in 2011.

·      Burglaries: In 2012, Wayland had 17 burglaries, up from six in 2011and 16 in 2010

·      Larcenies: In 2012, larcenies jumped to 29 from 21 in 2011 and 2010.

·       Motor vehicle thefts: In 2012, Wayland had four motor vehicle thefts in 2012, up from one in 2011 and none in 2010.
