Berlin Selectmen Tap Wayland Police Sergeant for Chief

He was selected from among a search committee pool of six candidates.

Wayland Police Sgt. Tom Galvin has been selected to lead the Berlin Police Department.

The Item reports that Berlin selectmen Monday night settled on Galvin to serve as Berlin's next chief of police. The former chief, Otto Rhode Jr., retired and Berlin Sgt. John Geis has been serving in the interim.

According to the report, Galvin, who lives in Hudson, was one of three finalists selectmen interviewed, a field narrowed down from the six candidates selected by the search committee.

Galvin's appointment remains subject to contract negotiations, The Item reports.
