WHS alum brings original play to NYC

“Bringing Jacob Monroe Hates Clowns to a New York City stage has been my biggest dream since I was 18. What began in a playwriting class as a lighthearted romance — "a lovelorn fool must attend clown college to chase after his childhood crush" — deepened over time into something much greater and much more urgent.”

Corey Vogel (WHS class of ’09 and WHSTE alum) debuts his first original full length play on March 6-8th and 13-15th at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, just blocks away from Times Square. This tragicomedy was written over three years to mirror this playwright’s own emotional hurdles.

A hysterical and heartbreaking metanarrative about what it means to dream, need and move on, Jacob Monroe reinvents the archetypes of Greek and Shakespearian tragedy alongside the quick-tongued fools of Commedia dell'Arte. Online ticketing will be available soon. Follow on Facebook and help fund the remainder of this project.
