Vote for Barb Fletcher for School Committee

We are writing to strongly support Barb Fletcher for re-election to the School Committee. 

We have known Barb for over 25 years as a business school classmate, a co-worker at a financial services firm, a fellow parent raising our children in Wayland, and as a champion of public education and the Wayland School system.  In all these walks of life, Barb has distinguished herself with intelligence, dedication and poise, and gained considerable experience that makes her an ideal candidate for a continued role on the School Committee. 

Barb’s educational background in business and work experience in finance provide critical skills to manage a school budget with financial savvy and fiscal rigor.   While raising 4 children in Wayland, she devoted countless hours to volunteering in a leadership role at all levels of Wayland’s schools, from room parent to special projects, to PTO President. 

These experiences, combined with Barb’s passion for public education, led her to first run for School Committee 9 years ago, and have distinguished her contribution during that time.  Barb’s tenure on the School Committee has witnessed the opening of the new Wayland High School on time and under budget, as well as a full array of programs supported by successfully navigating the budget process to balance excellence and cost efficiency.  She has served in a leadership role as the Chairperson of the School Committee several times, including the present.  During this time Barb has also worked professionally in the field of education, playing a significant role in managing the operation and finances of an independent tuition free middle school serving low income children.   

Beyond her considerable experience and competence, Barb has all the personal attributes of a valuable public servant.  She is a thoughtful, hardworking, approachable team player of the highest integrity.  Please join us in voting for Barb Fletcher for School Committee on April 1.
