Community Corner

In support of Cherry Karlson for Board of Selectmen

We are writing in strong support of Cherry Karlson’s candidacy for the Board of Selectmen.  We have known Cherry as a neighbor, as a deeply engaged parent in the public schools, and as a remarkably active contributor to town boards and activities for the past 18 years.

Cherry came to Wayland following 10 years in positions of increasing responsibility with the Bank of Boston. Once here, she has shared her signature skills, energy, and enthusiasm through work for the schools and the community, serving many years as PTO President, and joining and leading numerous Town committees. Cherry was instrumental in the creation of the Wayland Community Pool, a wonderful example of what can be done when the town comes together, and public and private resources are combined to achieve a clear and common goal.  For the past 10 years, Cherry has served with true distinction as member, and for 4 years as Chair, of the Wayland Finance Committee.

We believe that Cherry is an unusually distinguished candidate for the Board, with business training and corporate experience, an extensive record of civic engagement and accomplishment, deep knowledge of our community’s priorities and how those priorities must come together in a balanced budget, and an unflagging willingness to serve our town and to represent the interests of all of us.  We encourage you to join us in supporting Cherry and, most importantly, in casting your vote for her for the Board of Selectmen.
