OBIT: Lillian May (Erickson) Leupold, 89

Lillian May (Erickson) Leupold, 89, a Wayland resident for 58 years, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 2, 2013 from complications arising from Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Natick on November 29, 1924 the daughter of the late Carl Erickson and Karin (Beck) Erickson.

Lillian is survived by her loving husband Mathias “Mat” Leupold, her sons, John, Jeffrey and Christopher Leupold, a daughter-in-law Mary Leupold, her grandsons Matthew and Michael Leupold and her granddaughter Karin Leupold. She is also survived by her siblings Karin Gilley, Roy Erickson and Ellen Enemark. She was predeceased by her brothers Donald Erickson and Arthur Erickson.

Lillian was kind, giving and had a sense of adventure and joy for life. She loved her family and home where her talents included gardening, cooking and handicrafts. Lillian was an avid swimmer and also enjoyed sailing, bicycling and hiking in the White Mountains.

Before her marriage of 60 years to Mat, she was a technician in the pathology lab at Newton Wellesley Hospital. Later, after having raised three sons, Lillian worked as an assistant teacher at the Sunny Hill Pre-School in Sudbury.

Interment will follow in the Leupold family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
