Obit: Christopher J. Heavey, 56, Wayland HS Graduate

Heavey died on Nov. 2.

Christopher James “Chris” Heavey, 56, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by his loving and devoted family and friends on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 after several months of a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Boston on April 12, 1957 the son of the late John Francis Heavey, III and Barbara Jean (Leadbetter) Heavey.

Chris is survived by his siblings; Craig J. Heavey of Canaan, ME; Brett S. Heavey and his wife Janet F. Hill-Heavey of Cochituate and Lynn C. Heavey of Cochituate. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.

Chris has been a lifelong resident of Cochituate and graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1975. He attended and completed many courses in mechanics training through General Motors. For several years he was associated as a mechanic with Honda Village in Newton. He was employed for the past 13 years as a Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic with the United States Postal Service at the Framingham location.

Chris enjoyed fresh water fishing and particularly the time he spent on Dudley Pond in Cochituate. He was an accomplished golfer and also enjoyed NASCAR racing. For many years he played softball at the Cochituate Ball Field for the Perry Trucking team. He was a loving and devoted brother, a friend to everyone and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers his family suggests that memorial gifts in Chris’s name be sent to Wayside Hospice, 266 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA 01778.
