Black Friday/Cyber Monday: Best Home Buying Deals

Holiday season is the best time to shop for a home! Here are some of the reasons why from Marilyn Messenger, local Realtor and Buyer agent.

Everyone’s lining up for Black Friday bargains – the earlier the better; who doesn’t like to save money? Smart shoppers know when to get the best deals! The same is true for home buyers! Smart buyers who want to become homeowners are out shopping for a home at Thanksgiving and throughout the holiday season. They know that’s the time to make the best deal or least to start the process so when they find the right house they’re ready to move. It’s also when people have the time. It’s easy to take an extra hour or two off from work to look at houses and attend to all the details. No one will notice; everyone’s shopping!

Why is it the best time? Sellers who have their homes on the market really want to sell, they are motivated and don’t want their houses to sit on the market during the winter months. They’re relocating for a job, want to be somewhere warm, can’t deal with the maintenance another winter will bring. Even though they may not admit it (sellers like to think they don’t “have to sell”) why else would they be willing to disrupt their holidays and have people come traipsing through their homes?

Successful negotiations in real estate are a “meeting of the minds” and often “of the heart” as well. People who have enjoyed their homes often have a warm feeling about passing it along to a new owner for their enjoyment. In general people are feeling good, there’s a sense of good will, wanting to get along and a readiness to move on. It’s a great time for people to agree on a price and terms both parties can feel good about. Even builders are in a good mood and they want to sell before the snow too; it’s good business!
