Former Wayland Resident Taylor Schilling Gets Golden Globe Nomination

Schilling portrays Piper Chapman in the Netflix series, "Orange is the New Black."

Former Wayland resident Taylor Schilling was nominated on Thursday for a Golden Globe award for best actress in a television series, drama.

The nomination is for her role in "Orange is the New Black," a Netflix series about Schilling's character, Piper Chapman, who is arrested and sent to a woman's jail on charges stemming from her past. 

Other nominees Schilling faces in the actress-drama category include:

-Kerry Washington - for her role as Olivia Pope in ABC's "Scandal."

-Julianna Margulies for her role as Alicia Florrick in the "Good Wife." 

-Tatiana Maslany from "Orphan Black"

-Robin Wright Penn  for her role as Claire Underwood in "House of Cards."
