Bridge Sections for Pelham Island Being Delivered Via Route 20 Today

Massive tractor trailers carrying pieces of bridge for the Pelham Island Road project will be transported via Route 20 this afternoon.

Several 80-foot long tractor trailer loads of bridge pieces for the Pelham Island Road bridge are expected to be delivered via Route 20 (Boston Post Road) this afternoon.

Wayland police are expecting the deliveries to take place between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and said they do not expect significant traffic delays.

Still, an update from Pelham Island resident Gary Slep recommends residents avoid using Pelham Island Road during the scheduled deliveries. Slep said the contractor is expecting 13-15 deliveries total, two of which will occur later in the week and are expected to be delivered via the Sudbury side.

Some of the deliveries are expected to be 80 feet long and 13 feet wide, Slep said.

The Pelham Island Road bridge project remains on target to open to traffic in late November to early December.
