Local Freemasons holding Open House

Find out more about Freemasonry. The Joseph Warren-Soley Lodge in Lincoln is having an Open House Saturday October 17th, 10am to 3pm

Freemasons at the Joseph Warren-Soley Lodge, 181 Lincoln Road, Lincoln, will open their doors to the
public on Saturday, October 17th, between 10 am and 3 pm, as part of the Square and Compasses Day, a state-wide celebration of Freemasonry. If you’ve ever wondered who the Freemasons are, what they do, their relation to the Knights Templars, or what the inside of a Masonic building is like, here’s your chance!

Lodge members, whom hail from Wayland, Sudbury, Lincoln and surrounding towns will provide tours of
their beautiful circa 1890 building, talk about Freemasonry’s history, discuss its rituals, signs, and symbols, and explain what they do.

For over 282 years, Massachusetts Freemasons have been part of an unbroken tradition of great men who have
changed our world.

Presidents George Washington, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Gerald Ford as well as Thurgood Marshall, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, and John Glenn, for example, all joined the Masons prior to achieving their greatness. Many of the leaders of the American Revolution were Freemasons and much of America’s ideals are actually
Masonic ideals.

Freemasonry was formally organized in London, England in 1717. In 1733 it was organized in Massachusetts and 32,000 Masons reside in Massachusetts and are members of 230 Lodges state-wide.

Freemasonry, the world’s oldest and largest fraternity, seeks to bring together men of every country, religion, race, background, and opinion in order to develop the bonds of friendship between them. American Masonic philanthropies give approximately $3,000,000 to charity every day, 70% of which benefits the general public. Through ancient symbolism, allegory and traditions, members learn to value high principles, ethics, and morals and to
live their lives accordingly.
