Five-Century House Tour
Where have Waylanders lived in each of the five centuries since its founding in 1638?
We'll visit one house from each century. The 17th century dwelling was built in ca. 1690. The 18th century example was started pre-1720 and expanded to its present form in 1762. In the 19th century, a fine village house was built by and for a prominent East Sudbury family in ca. 1820 and updated in the 1870s by new store owners who had just moved to Wayland. The 20th and 21st century examples are modern architect-designed houses. The Grout-Heard House Museum also will be open to all attending the house tour as will the Wayland Depot, a consignment arts and crafts shop. Tickets are $25 in advance, $15 for volunteers, and $30 on site. Shuttle service will be provided.
