Framingham's Mary Z, Worcester Sheriff Campaign for Congressional Candidate Addivinola

Framingham's Mary Z. Connaughton said Massachusetts needs independent thinkers like Republican congressional candidate Frank Addivinola. Election day is Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Framingham's Mary Z. Connaughton and Worcester County Sheriff and former Framingham resident Lew Evangelidis encouraged MetroWest Republicans to get out the vote for Congressional candidate Frank Addivinola, a Boston attorney, at an event at Ken's Steakhouse in Framingham Wednesday night.

Voters will go to the polls Tuesday, Dec. 10 to elect a U.S. Representative for the 5th Congressional District. The special election was needed after former representative Edward Markey, a Democrat, became the state's junior senator.

Addivinola, who won the Republican primary primary in October, is one of four candidates that will be on the ballot Tuesday. Voters in more than 20 communities will vote in the unusual December election.

Connaughton said Massachusetts needs independent thinkers like Addivinola.

The candidate, an attorney, said with more Democrats than Republicans registered in the newly-designed congressional district, he needs Republicans to encourage unenrolled party voters to cast their vote for him.

Voter turnout is expected to be low - less than 10 percent.
