Blizzard of 2013 Cancellations, Postponements and Closings

We're keeping a running list of the businesses, events, meetings and more that the Blizzard of 2013 is impacting.

The cancellations and closings due to the Blizzard of 2013 started coming in well over 24 hours before the worst of the storm was expected to strike.

We're keeping a running list of the changes we've heard about. If you know of a closing, postponement or cancellations, PLEASE add it in the comments below. We'll need everyone pitching in to keep this list as informative and helpful as possible.

Church Services:

  • Communty United Methodist Church -- Sunday services canceled

Transportation:

  • Gov. Deval Patrick has lifted the travel ban, effective at 4 p.m. Saturday.
  • All MBTA service (buses, T and Commuter Rail) will be suspended as of 3:30 p.m. Friday. Will NOT be running Saturday.

Events:

  • Wayland Winter Farmers' Market -- Canceled.
  • Arts/Wayland Annual Meeting -- Postponed to Feb. 10
  • Wayland Council on Aging: Friday matinee, watercolor class and Better Balance exercise program -- Canceled

Schools:

  • Goddard School 25th Anniversary Party - Canceled. The Silent Auction will take place, Monday, Feb. 11 to Friday, Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Wayland High School athletic events - Friday practices canceled; girls and boys basketball games postponed. For Saturday and Sunday adjustments, see the attached PDF.
  • Wayland Public Schools are CLOSED Friday. All activities are canceld Friday and Saturday.

Businesses:

  • Chocolate Fest at Whole Foods Wayland -- Postponed to Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 4 p.m.-6 p.m.
  • Bird Movie Night at Russell's Garden Center -- Postponed to March 2.
  • Michelle's Jewelry Boutique -- Closed Saturday
  • Russell's Garden Center Closing at 1 p.m. Friday; Closed Saturday.
  • Whole Foods Market - Open as of 1 p.m. Saturday
  • Moodz Salon and Spa - Closed Saturday
  • Liberty Pizza - Open on Saturday.
  • Especially for Pets - Closed Saturday

Government:

  • Massachusetts courthouses and offices will close at 3 p.m. All first-day jurors scheduled for Springfield, Woburn, Somerville, Boston and Worcester are canceled.
  • Wayland Town Building -- Closed on Friday
  • Wayland Public Library -- Closed on Friday and Saturday
  • Wayland Transfer Station -- Closed on Saturday
  • Postal Service -- Suspended Saturday

I'll be closed on Saturday 2/9 but open again Tuesday 2/12 from 10-5 and then until Thursday 2/14. I leave for vacation Friday the 15th of February and re-open Tuesday the 26th of February! Be safe in this blizzard! Michelle Michelle's Jewelry Boutique 310 Boston Post Rd. Across from Whole Foods

Hey Leisha. I know mail service has been suspended for the time being, so I'll assume that the post offices themselves are closed ... though I don't know that for certain at the moment.
